On Sunday, December 10, the Children’s Choir of St. Vitus School under the direction of Miss Lillian Betts and Mr. James Hackett, shared Christmas joy with the Christian Mothers and Ladies Guild as they performed a variety of Christmas Carols for their annual Christmas dinner celebration. All present joined the children in singing the well-known, beloved carols. The school Christmas Choir members are: Jocelynn and Colton Cox; Marika, Mikaila, Greyson, and Geoffrey Measel; Tonilynn Mielke, Michael Stephenson, Maitlyn Assega, Mackenzie Macom, Landon Moats, Caden Narlee, Shaddai Kinney, Alaina Mastren, and Elizabeth Baum.
On Friday, December 15, in Fabbri Hall, the students of St. Vitus School celebrated the joyous season with friends and families through a Christmas presentation. The evening opened with the St. Vitus Preschool, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade singing songs that proclaim the birth of Jesus under the guidance of Lisa Voytko, Jackie Pisano, Pamela Bussard, and Timmie D’Errico. Fourth Grade students, their parents, and Kassie Daugherty enacted the play, The Search for Baby Jesus, with Lisa Manzo’s direction. The first half of the presentation ended with Kassie Daugherty’s The Grinch who stole Christmas performed by 7th and 1st Grade students.
After a brief intermission, The Christmas celebration concluded with Carols and Lessons, a joyous retelling of the Christmas Story in which 2nd through 8th graders shared scripture and song announcing the Coming of The Christ. Justin Venasco, Stacey Mastren, Lillian Betts, Melanie Widelko, and Marguerite Wills prepared the students. Krissy Chill designed our sets and Tyler Staub provided musical technical assistance.
The students performed to a standing room only audience. “The program was sacred and yet joyous. St. Vitus School wants to spread the message that this blessed season is about the birth of Christ." asserted Principal Cathy Ryan.
