Last night was a blessed experience for St. Vitus. The mass was beautiful, beginning with a processional of students, lights, and the Knights of Columbus. Fr. Frank Almade conducted a prayerful liturgy brimming with student and alumni involvement as Father Nicholas Vaskov offered musical accompaniment. The church was filled with many alumni of St. Vitus School and other now closed New Castle Catholic Schools. Most moved over to Fabbri Hall to share cookies, punch and warm memories. As the evening progressed, Brian Burick of The Knights of Columbus presented a very generous gift to St. Vitus School. A special thanks to Miss Lillian Betts for her conscientious attention to all aspects of the liturgy and its participants, and to all of our wonderful hard-working staff and parents who worked in the church, kitchen, Fabbri Hall, and school to make this night possible; and especially to all who donated the dozens of cookies and cakes. Thank you for your kindness and continued support of St. Vitus Catholic School and Catholic education.
Cathy Ryan is the principal of St. Vitus School.
