Our Varsity Basketball Team under the direction of Athletic Director and Coach Paul Passerrello, and Coaches Paul Passerrello, Jr. and Joe Morgan made it to the first round of the playoffs of the Pittsburgh Diocesan Championship.
St Vitus School’s Cheerleading Team under the direction of Coach Cheryl Passerrello won the 6th Annual St. Michael Cheerleading Competition in Hermitage, PA., on February 21, 2015.

On February 28, 2015, 18 of St. Vitus School’s 7th and 8th graders attended the 58th Annual Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science’s Region IX competition at Slippery Rock University. Approximately 470 students in grades 7 – 12 presented their science and math research projects in the competition during Slippery Rock University’s 18th consecutive year as host of the event. The St. Vitus School students were successful in their efforts: winning 3 special awards, twelve first place awards with two perfect scores and 6 second place awards. Mariah Bupp took a first place, achieved a perfect score and won a PJAS Region IX Director’s Award for Junior High Chemistry and a $25 Staples gift card. Ricky Zheng took a first place and won a PJAS Region IX Director’s Award for Junior High Engineering and a $25 Staples gift card.
Matthew Moore took a first place, achieved a perfect score, and won a special award given to outstanding projects in each area based on recommendations of judges of that unit, the Junior High Chemistry Award plus $100 cash from SRU Chemistry Dept. Also winning first places were the following: Elliott Armstrong, Jesse Brightshue, Jack Bussard, Black Houk, Anthony Morgan, Angelina Pagley, Dominique Pagley, Hunter Williams, and Braiden Wills. Sara Brunelle, Isabella Burick, Antonio Dattilo, Bryce Enscoe, Elizabeth Mrozek, and Nicholas Voytko received second place awards. On March 27 – 28, the St. Vitus School science students will present their research projects at Pittsburgh’s 75th Regional Science and Engineering Fair. Finally, the twelve first place winners will compete in the PJAS state competition on May 17-19 at Pennsylvania State University. Marguerite Wills is St. Vitus School’s Science instructor and sponsor. Mrs. Leah Ann Williams and Mr. Robert Penrose are Co-Directors of Region IX of the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science.
St. Vitus School Forensics
Five eighth grade students from St. Vitus competed in the Lawrence County Forensics Competition February 26, 2015 at Northminster Church. All five students impressed the judges and left with awards. Mariah Bupp received 2nd place with an informative speech. Jack Buzzard and Matthew Moore received 3rd place in dramatic duo. Anthony Morgan and Braiden Wills received 2nd place in dramatic duo.
Our Archery Team has been practicing in preparation for The NASP State Archery competition at Penn State on March 13.
